Spotlight on Seattle Development

With our headquarters located in Seattle, Washington, US, American Life Incorporated and its investors keep a close eye on development in the city. Several ambitious projects are planned, underway, or recently completed that demonstrate the prolific real estate development in the city.

The first of note is the Embassy Suites Seattle Downtown Pioneer Square property. The 282-room hotel is the brand’s first city center property, placing their suites-only product into a smaller, urban footprint. The property design instills a sense of place within historic Pioneer Square with a modern twist. Amenities include 17 room style choices, an upscale health club, outdoor pool, local-inspired restaurants, and a 500-guest event space. The hotel opened on March 28.

Next is the Amazon Spheres property, a unique 65,000-square foot office and conference property that is part of Amazon’s Seattle campus. The steel and glass domes house hundreds of plants from around the world in a climate-controlled area intermixed with offices and meeting spaces. This ambitious development required collaboration between several local businesses and was under construction from February 2013, opening in January of this year. While not formally open to the public, private tours of the gardens are available.

Finally, the Washington State Convention Center expansion project is underway. The $1.6 billion project includes 1.1 million square feet of convention center expansion, 575,000 square feet of office space, 385 residences, 42,000 square feet of street-level use, and below-grade parking and loading facilities. The current design was approved by the city in March with several conditions and recommendations and will double the size of the existing facility.

These are just a few of the developments completed or underway in the Seattle area, where robust development affords multiple opportunities for real estate investors.
