Henry Liebman Chief Executive Officer / Chairman of the Board
In 1996, Henry founded American Life, Inc.—one of the first companies in the United States to employ the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program to finance real estate developments that stimulate job growth and revitalize economies.
Henry has more than 20 years of experience in real estate law and immigration law and more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate management and investment. He has served as Managing Partner of Coe Nordwall Liebman, LLC. Henry also founded the Northwest International Bank and served as its first board chairman. In addition, Henry was the Founding Director of Invest in the USA (IIUSA), a non-profit industry trade association for the EB-5 Regional Center Program.
Henry earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Washington in 1973 and received his Juris Doctor degree from The University of Puget Sound in 1980. His experience in immigration law, finance, and real estate is both extensive and eclectic and provides value to its investors.
Henry is frequently invited to speak on business and immigration topics at organizations throughout the United States and abroad. Additionally, he authored The Immigration Handbook, which has been published in the U.S., Spain, and the United Kingdom.
Henry resides in Seattle, Washington with his wife, Karen, where they cherish the time spent with their children and grandchildren. He finds solace in hiking and fishing, and often indulges in travel and adventures around the globe – Japan being one of his favorite destinations.
Under Henry’s guidance, American Life remains at the forefront of economic development, empowering investors and developers to realize their visions and create lasting impact.
Don Ayres Chief Operations Officer
Don Ayres brings more than 35 years of management and business development experience to American Life. Prior to joining the company, he was with Health Force Partners as a founding member and served as senior Vice President of 12 physical therapy clinics and 4 regional occupational medicine clinics. Don has been working in the Seattle business community for more than 40 years. He was a founding partner in Eagle Rehab in 1992, a 40-office group of clinics through Washington State. There he served as regional manager in charge of operations, facility development, and property management and oversaw budgeting and business development for 17 clinics. Prior to that, Don founded Therapy Network Services, a 175-member IPA in 3 states that contracted with insurance companies to provide rehabilitation.
Don received his BS in Athletic Training from Washington State University and his postgraduate degree in physical therapy in 1976 from Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. He has served as board chair for Washington State Private Practice and Socioeconomic Chairman for The Washington State Physical Therapy Association. Don has also served as president of Everett Golf and Country Club in 2001. He currently serves on the board of directors and is vice chair of the Providence Everett Medical Center Foundation.
Darrell Sanders Vice President, Investment Programs
Darrell Sanders is the Vice President of Investment Programs at American Life, overseeing investment by foreign nationals into ALI’s EB-5 program. He works globally promoting foreign investment into the company’s real estate developments. He also oversees the team of professionals at American Life dedicated to support and service of its nearly 3,000 investors.
Mr. Sanders has over 20 years of experience in investment-based U.S. immigration and commercial real estate. He has been affiliated with American Life since its inception in 1996. Prior to joining ALI, Mr. Sanders was the Founder and President of Pacific Rim Acquisitions, Inc. a U.S.-based consulting firm which assisted foreign investors who wished to acquire businesses and real estate in the United States.
Eric Haber Vice President, Operations
Eric Haber serves as the Vice President of Operations at American Life, where he plays a pivotal role in guiding the property management and accounting departments. His responsibilities encompass overseeing the organization’s budgeting processes, financing activities, financial reporting, and the administration of the insurance program across the company’s real estate holdings.
Eric brings a wealth of expertise from the banking sector, having held positions in project management and operations at various financial institutions, both regional and national in scope. Before his tenure at American Life, Eric was instrumental in the founding of two food and beverage startups in New York State and later took on the role of managing strategic sourcing a multinational food manufacture.
Eric’s academic foundation is a bachelor’s degree in finance, which he earned from the University of Delaware. He obtained both his Series 7 and 63 securities licenses, along with his real estate brokerage license. Eric relocated to Seattle in 2018, where he now resides with his wife and their two children.
Margaret Fuentes Financial Controller
Margaret Fuentes is a vital asset to American Life, joining the team in 2017 and now serving as Controller. In her role, Margaret oversees Property and Corporate Accounting, managing the company’s full-cycle accounting processes and financial reporting. Before becoming Controller, she was Corporate Accounting Manager.
Margaret is a graduate of Michigan State University and has over 15 years of experience in commercial real estate accounting. Prior to American Life, she held roles at Unico Properties, including Treasury Manager and Senior Property Accountant.
Outside of work, Margaret finds joy in playing and performing music, tending to her vibrant garden, and spending quality time with her family.
Ken Clark Director, Facilities
Ken Clark, as the Director of Facilities at American Life, sets a high standard in building performance, benefiting both investors and tenants. His transition from a Project Manager/Director at SODO Builders to his current role at American Life is marked by a consistent demonstration of an unyielding work ethic, deep construction knowledge, and a mature leadership style. At SODO Builders, Ken’s close collaboration with American Life laid the groundwork for his seamless transition into property management, where he now manages complex designs, logistics, and maintenance challenges.
In addition to his leadership in facilities management, Ken is also a licensed commercial real estate broker. This role enhances his comprehensive understanding of the real estate sector, blending operational expertise with strategic insights into real estate investment and development.
Beyond his professional life, Ken’s passion for travel and exploration helps bring a unique perspective to his projects. Ken’s creativity reinforces his position as a dynamic leader in the fields of facility management and commercial real estate, making him an invaluable asset to American Life.
Annie Zhou Director, Investor Relations
Annie Zhou is the Director of Investor Relations at American Life, bringing extensive experience in investor relations and project management within the EB-5 industry. Known for her dedication and professionalism, Annie excels in building strong relationships with investors.
Prior to joining American Life in 2014, Annie served as the Trade Specialist for the World Trade Center Tacoma. Here, she forged collaborative partnerships with business development organizations and local governments, facilitating strategic alliances between local firms and international businesses. Annie also led incoming and outgoing official Chinese delegations, accompanying high-ranking public officials such as Washington Governor Jay Inslee, Lieutenant Governor Brad Owen, and former Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed. Her expertise extends to strategic planning, marketing, management, and conducting business in diverse cultural environments.
Annie has a passion for travel and has explored many countries, enriching her understanding of global business practices. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Project Management from City University of Seattle, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business and Chinese Studies from Pacific Lutheran University.
Jennifer Smith Director, Business Development
Jennifer is responsible for forging strategic partnerships, growing new markets, and offering invaluable guidance to investors through the EB-5 immigrant investor program. Bringing over a decade of EB-5 experience to American Life, she has successfully raised capital for the development of $500 million in commercial real estate ventures in key markets throughout the U.S.
Jennifer has supported hundreds of EB-5 investors throughout their investment process, leading to the acquisition of their green cards, and the timely repayment of their capital. Prior to joining American Life, she helped EB-5 clients obtain their conditional and permanent residency in the U.S. at a prominent immigration law firm in San Francisco, California. She received her law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon.
