Advocating for the Future of the EB-5 Regional Center Program

September 11, 2025 — 2 min read

At American Life, we are committed to building strong communities through commercial real estate development and EB-5 investment opportunities. This past week, our team had the privilege of joining other industry leaders in Washington D.C. advocate for the continuation of the EB-5 Regional Center Program, which is currently authorized through September 2027.

Strong Bipartisan Support for EB-5

During meetings on Capitol Hill, we were encouraged to see broad support for the program from both Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate. This momentum underscores the program’s proven success in driving job creation through EB-5 projects, stimulating economic growth, and attracting global investment into communities across the United States.

Representing the Industry at the National Level

Our colleague, Darrell Sanders, serves as a Board Member of Invest in the USA (IIUSA), the national not-for-profit association representing EB-5 Regional Centers and stakeholders. Alongside the IIUSA leadership team, Darrell continues to work tirelessly to ensure the program remains strong and accessible for qualified foreign investors beyond 2027.

Policy Priorities for a Stronger Program

In addition to long-term reauthorization, IIUSA is advocating for several important updates to strengthen the EB-5 immigrant investor program.

  • Grandfathering Protections: Safeguarding EB-5 investors beyond 2026, even if program reauthorization faces delays.

  • Fairer Visa Allocation: Removing the counting of derivatives (an investor’s spouse and children) against the annual visa quota, allowing more families to benefit from EB-5.

  • Improved USCIS Oversight: Encouraging stronger oversight to ensure EB-5 petitions are processed efficiently and fairly, so investors can achieve their immigration and investment goals in a timely manner.

Why This Matters for Investors and Communities

For over 25 years, American Life, Inc. has successfully paired global investors with high-quality U.S. real estate development projects, creating jobs and strengthening communities while helping investors achieve their long-term goals. By working with lawmakers, investors, and industry leaders, we are helping secure a bright future for the EB-5 program and the economic benefits it brings to the United States.

We are proud to be at the forefront of this effort and we look forward to continuing our role in supporting EB-5 projects, expanding opportunities for global investors, and driving growth in communities across the country.
